The concert stage in Hindmarsh Park is to be named the Orry-Kelly Stage, in honour of one of Kiama’s most famous sons.
Orry-Kelly had a stellar career in Hollywood as a costume designer, winning three Oscars for his work and being the favoured designer of the world’s biggest stars.
His achievements were celebrated in a documentary by Gillian Armstrong, Women He’s Undressed.
In a related development, Orry-Kelly’s mentor, Eleanor Weston, is to be included on Kiama’s Arts Honour Roll for her fostering of the arts in many ways.
