The Christmas light display on Kiama and Gerringong Town Halls, dubbed Kiama’s Vivid, could be the start of something big, according to Council’s Director of Engineering & Works, Gino Belsito.

“We were considering putting lights on the buildings to add a festive feel, but discovered it was much more cost effective to have a light and sound display,” he says.

“Now that we’ve had this first attempt, people can see what is possible. We are more than happy to see how it can be built on for next year so that it becomes a focal point over the holiday season.”

While some have criticised the hoardings necessary for safety and security reasons, he says alternatives are possible and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive
