Bus trips to help fire affected towns

Wanting to help businesses in fire affected communities survive, a number of local organisations have taken the Empty Eskies campaign to heart and organised bus trips down south to inject money into the local economies. Here’s Al Marsden’s report on a trip taken by the Kiama Blowhards – Kiama Rugby’s senior members:

The Kiama Blowhards and friends boarded a coach on a recent Sunday and headed south to show our support to bushfire communities.

We ate in the cafes and pubs, shopped til we dropped and just chatted to the people who have endured such a horrible ordeal.

They are such terrific, stoic people who were very appreciative that they hadn’t been forgotten.

A big thank you to Gerrard King from Kiama Coaches for providing the coach free of charge, drivers Billy and Julian, and all of the wonderful people who jumped on the bus and had a long but fruitful day.

To everyone at Milton, Mogo and Ulladulla …… it will get better.

If you get the chance, jump in the car, head south and support our friends in need.
