National Rose honour for Colin Hollis

Colin Hollis at the Spring Rose Show in 2014

In the lead up to the Illawarra Rose Society’s Spring Rose Show, Jamberoo resident and rose legend Colin Hollis has been elected National President of the Rose Society of Australia.

He was also presented with the Australian Rose Award, the highest Award given by the Rose Society in Australia.

Jamberoo’s Spring Rose Show is expected to attract around 50 exhibitors from as far afield as the Hunter, Canberra, Camden, Penrith and Sydney as well as locals.
In total, there will be about 500 exhibits in the 90 categories.

Illawarra Rose Society president Kristin Dawson says, “The annual festival, now in its 45th year, is the biggest Rose Show in NSW, being much larger than even the Sydney ShoW.”

One of the reasons for the Show’s continuing success is this is the optimal time for roses in the Illawarra.

“Even with the drought, the roses are continuing to delight both with their beauty and perfume,” says Ms Dawson.
