An initiative by local music promoter and musician Lincoln Piper is bringing Australian music legends Mental As Anything to Gerringong for a fundraising concert for Tathra.
“I’ve been in the Bush Fire Brigade so have the seen the devastation that fires can bring first hand,” he says.
“A community that loses 70 houses in one day needs ongoing support.”
When fellow musician Tara Favel said she wanted to do something, as she knows people affected, Lincoln took it to the next level and booked the Mentals in.
“They leapt at the idea of being involved, and are a big drawcard for the event,” he says. “Everyone loves their songs and knows they are great live.”
The Mentals will be supported by local musicians and Scott McRae (known
for his E Street and Stevie Wright and the Easy Beats Show).
There will be an auction and other fundraising events on the night, as well as portions of the profit from food and drinks sold.
“We are looking at 350 people coming along to help out the people of Tathra,” says Lincoln.
“Tickets are selling fast so don’t be the one to miss out.”
At its March Meeting Kiama Council donated $5000 to the Tathra Mayoral Appeal.
