See the design evolution of this year’s Festival artwork

Gregor Cullen

An exhibition showcasing the recent work of acclaimed local graphic designer Gregor Cullen is being opened on the weekend of the Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival.

The timing is appropriate as Gregor is the creative force the Festival’s striking imagery this year.

He has brought to this project his 35 years of experience as a design and art educator with a self-developed practice in social impact design, printmaking and community engagement, coupled and committed to teaching in the Graphic Design program, Faculty of Law, Humanities & Arts, at the University of Wollongong.

“It has been an absolute honour to have Gregor generously supply this year’s look and feel for this unique Kiama event,” says the President of the Kiama Jazz & Blues Club, Becky Guggisberg.

The exhibition, Gregor Cullen: Graphic art posters & prints, will showcase other recent work as well as showing the evolution of the Festival’s new branding from the initial concept.

The original art will be available as limited edition prints, which are expected to become collectors items.

Gregor’s graphic art practice has been documented by the National Gallery of Australia and his poster art is held in collections of major regional and national galleries and museums.

As a member of Council’s Cultural Board of Kiama Municipal Council, he is currently exploring options for creative industries and partnerships with Health, Aged Care, Design and Arts.

Details: Exhibition opens Saturday 7 March, WorkLife Kiama, Collins St, 11am.
Open 11-5pm on 7-8 March, with buskers perfoming close by over the weekend. Exhibition continues during business hours until April.
