Kiama’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2020 is James Chapman (right), one of our silver medalists in the Men’s Four at the London Olympics.
He has been in the Senior Australian Rowing Team since 2003, including at the Beijing and Athens Olympics, and is a university, NSW and Australian Champion.
Apart from excelling at sport, Mr Chapman has risen to be an associate director in Institutional Banking at Westpac, after having started there as a teller at 16.
He has been the recipient of scholarships from the NSW and Australian Institutes of Sport, and has been the Sydney Rowing Club Youth Coach since 2009.
Mr Chapman will be making his Australia Day address at the official ceremony, which recognises our Citizens of the Year and welcomes our new Australians with a Citizenship ceremony. He is likely to attend other local activities on the day.
