In the five years that Adam Regal battled with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), he and his friends have raised millions for research into the disease that runs in his family, largely through a variety of events.
Having seen his father and uncle struck down by the debilitating disease, he wanted to find a cure or an effective treatment by helping to fund Macquarie University’s MND Research Centre.
Since 2015, over $1.5 million has been raised by the Firefighters Climb for MND, where firefighters climb the 98 storeys of the Sydney Tower Eve wearing full gear weighing over 20kg. Each floor is dedicated to those living, or who have died, with MND. The event was started by friend and firefighter Matt Pridham.
Adam’s widow Kylie has suggested a donation to Team Regal in this year’s event, on 20 October, in lieu of flowers. Donate at: www.firiesclimbformnd.gofundraise.com.au/page/Regal
