Do you know a potential Showgirl?

New Kiama Showgirl Co-ordinator Fiona Wilkinson is looking for entrants for the 2016 judging. Our Showgirl goes on to represent Kiama at the Agricultural Societies’ Council Zone Final and at The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition.

“Showgirl is an important tradition, but the competition is also about findiphotobng young ladies who are passionate about and want to be involved in their community,’’ she says. “Our goal is to have our Showgirl represent us throughout the year not just at the Show.

“We are looking for people who are passionate about the beautiful place we live in and want to acknowledge both the traditions of the Show and where we are today
as a community.’’

The 2015 Showgirl, Kiama Downs university student, Georgie Picton, says the experience had proven very valuable.

“I have learnt a lot about public etiquette and public speaking, and I think I have grown a lot through that,’’ she says.

Judging criteria includes personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation, speech, knowledge of community and
current affairs and involvement in and experience of rural affairs.

To be eligible entrants must be women aged over 18 and under 25 years as at 1 May, 2016.

The judging of the Showgirl takes place at the Kiama Show Ball on 9 January.
