Following complaints about the narrowness of streets in our new suburbs, the minimum road and verge widths for new subdivisions look set to be increased substantially to put them in line with Lancom’s new street design guidelines.

The proposals include:

• Access streets (< 300 vehicles per day) up from 5m to 6.5m
• Access roads (301-100 vehicles per day) up from 5.5m to 8m
• Minor collector roads (1001-3000 vehicles per day) up from 7.5m to 9.5m

The recommendations will be on public exhibition shortly.
